White-Washed (Part 2): Milk & the Big C.

So we’ve looked at HOW milk depletes calcium and contributes to osteoporosis, but what about milk as a “risky”, “chemical carcinogen”…??

In the last post I mentioned that many milk related research articles had focused on less than pleasant conditions. One of these unpleasant conditions is intestinal bleeding and it occurs mostly in infants and young children, often times leading to iron-deficient anemia.

White-Washed: What the dairy industry doesn’t want you to know!

“Milk is a great source of calcium”…
“Milk is important for strong bones and teeth”…
“Kids need milk to grow up to be big and strong”…

How would you feel if I told you that all of the above statements were lies? Big, fat, dirty, extremely dangerous, and very well funded lies? And that between 1988 – 1993 of the 2,700 research articles investigating milk that were recorded in medical archives in just the US alone, NONE of the researchers advised that milk was a good, great, or even excellent food for humans.

(Want to know what the real focus of those research articles were…?? Intestinal bleeding, bovine leukemia, asthma, heart disease, childhood diabetes, anemia, allergic reactions, arthritis and cancer!)

Some Deo for your B.O??

Ah deodorant, one of modern life’s little luxuries. And one that we often take for granted until we are within close proximity of someone not using it on a hot summers day! Ooh yeah!

Goodbye Coles & Woolworths…

This year’s resolution was BOLD, it was out there, it was serious. It had fore thought, insight, and a month before the new year dawned I put it out there, I told people, I owned it, I planned on doing some preparation…. then it was New Years Day.

On the way home from watching the sunrise on the beach I decided a couple of extra breakfast ingredients would add nicely to the decadence of heralding in another year. Which is when my partner reminded me… No Coles or Woolworths, remember!!??! Oh crap, yes, it’s January 1st. No Coles or Woolworths.

And so it was. The resolution came to be without so much as a farewell impulse shop. Or a fresh load of toilet paper. Continue reading

Challenge for a New Year

February…. How did we get here already..?? February. Wow.

So I’m writing from Sydney this time, and am thoroughly enjoying all the moving and shaking I’ve been doing lately. I’m down here for one of my oldest friends weddings this weekend, and even though we’ve reached our 30’s there’s days when I still can’t believe that we’re doing that whole “grown up” stage of life thing! HA! I wonder if we ever really feel like we’ve “grown up”??

This is a TED talk that I absolutely LOVE! I first saw it a while back and have watched it many times since. It’s one of my favourites, it’s inspiring, it’s life changing, and I hope you feel as moved as I did by watching! Enjoy!
