MUSE: What to do when your biggest fan is also your biggest naysayer?!?

So a change of direction here….

This afternoon I’ve been wondering; what do you do when the person who “should” be your biggest fan just happens to be your biggest naysayer?!?!?

I put “should” in inverted commas because I guess part of my question also needs to address whether this stems from a certain expectation I have on relationships and the role that a partner “should” play, vs looking at the situation from an objective perspective.

I remember reading not too long ago a thoughtful comment relating to the ‘birth’ of our new ideas. This wasn’t in regard to any particular idea but from memory it was related to the conception of new business ideas and inspiration. In any case it explained that not unlike a newborn, a creative spark in its infancy is extremely vulnerable Continue reading

GROW: Re-birth, for lives lost.

So… let’s try again shall we. Today is re-seeding and re-planting day!!!

My initial attempt at growing food from seed was at first a success, but was swiftly followed by heart breaking results as I left my seedlings unattended for too long! 😦

So today I’ve taken the pots, the soil and the seeds out onto the porch for some sunshine happy “green-thumbing”!!!

I arranged everything that I needed (including the mug of fresh coffee and the organic chocolate) Continue reading

DAMP: Neglectful Parenting…

I’ve been a bed mamma!

My seedlings were doing so well. And then I had to go away.

There was no-one close that I felt I could ask to look after my precious new-borns, so I did what I thought was the best…

Leaving them outside in north Queensland unawares of the weather conditions could well have led to a withering, desert-like drying, heating, cooking and scorching of all new life. As it turns out giving them a good drink, and then putting them in the bathroom in the relative cool, (yet unprecedented humidity) led to a moisture breeding, slowly drowning, mould growing asphyxiation! 😦  Continue reading

LOVE: Life’s a beach!

So my radical habit forming hit a bump in the road, as many a habit changer has experienced I’m sure!!! But it’s back on the band wagon for me….

As I lengthen my stride to catch up the wheels I’m also thoroughly enjoying the scenery along the way…. We’ve moved house!

To the BEACH!! YAY!!

Ever since I was a little girl enjoying family holidays on the beach of the Gold Coast, I had always told my Mum that one day I would live on the beach in Queensland…. 20-something years later and I’ve only just realised that I’m finally fulfilling my prophecy! And not a moment too soon!! HI MUM!!!  Continue reading

GROW: Spring forth joyously my loves!!

I HAVE SEEDLINGS!!!!

YAY!!! So after about a week (give or take, and forgive me as I’m writing this past tense!!) of tender love and care; and moving my little pots from the shade to the morning sun, and back to the dappled afternoon sun/ shade where there is a gentle breeze…. We have lift off!!!

I am SO impressed with the progress my sweet little darlings are making!!

Check out my baby tomato!!! His little green fingers are stretching for the sky!!! I can already taste the bright red, juicy, ripe fruits Continue reading

PLANT: Seeding my life.

Well hello!!!

I’m very excited! In my quest to live ever simply, sustainably and in deeper connection with my environment, my needs, and my food I HAVE PLANTED MY FIRST SEEDS! Literally!

I took a trip to Enviro-Mart (which is an incredible treasure trove of everything you could possibly need for inside your home, outside your home, on your body, in your body, and on your bookshelf!!!) to purchase a nice big bag of organic potting mix. I then took myself Continue reading
